Metallic epoxy is the finish people stop and stare at. Metallic pigments are suspended in clear epoxy, poured, and then moved — rolled, torched, and worked by hand until the floor looks like polished stone, wind-blown sand, or deep water.
Because every pour is worked by hand, no two metallic floors are alike — including ours. It's a finish for spaces you want to show off: finished basements, showrooms, storefronts, offices, and the occasional very fortunate garage.
A one-of-one floor
The pigment moves while the epoxy cures. The result is permanent, unrepeatable, and completely yours.

Multiple translucent layers under a clear topcoat give metallics a three-dimensional depth that sheet goods can't imitate.

It's still a full epoxy system — ground-in adhesion, chemical resistance, and a urethane or polyaspartic topcoat where traffic demands it.
The process
What a metallic epoxy job involves
A metallic floor gets the same foundation as every other system: diamond grinding, crack repair and, below grade, moisture control. Because metallic epoxy is translucent, the slab also has to be flat and uniform — ground-in patches and filled cracks are feathered so they do not telegraph through the finish.
Pour day is dedicated to the metallic layer. Pigmented epoxy goes down and is moved by hand — rolled, worked and directed — while it is still wet, which is where the marbling, movement and depth come from. Once it cures, a clear topcoat goes on, specified for the traffic the room will see: a high-abrasion coat for garages and commercial floors, a clear gloss for living spaces. Most rooms take a two- to three-day window.
What moves the price
Metallic floors run above flake because of the material and the hand-working time on pour day. Square footage, how much the slab has to be flattened, moisture mitigation below grade, and the topcoat chosen for the room's traffic all move the number.

You choose the colors and the overall character — subtle marbling versus bold movement — and we work the pour toward it. The exact pattern is created in the moment; that's the appeal.
Is metallic epoxy durable enough for a garage?+
Yes, with the right topcoat. We spec a high-abrasion clear coat for vehicle traffic; hot-tire pickup isn't an issue on a properly ground and coated slab.
What does a metallic floor cost compared to flake?+
Metallics run higher than flake because of material cost and hand-working time. Typical metallic pours in Maine are $8–$16 per square foot; we'll quote both systems from the same slab.
How long does a metallic pour take?+
Prep is the same as any floor. The pour itself is a dedicated day — pigments are moved by hand — then a clear topcoat. Most rooms are a two- to three-day window.
