Owner Kendal Roy grew up in this trade — he was on epoxy jobs with his father at ten years old, learning why the grinder matters more than the roller and why a floor that isn't prepped right isn't a floor that lasts.

His father is still a career installer running his own floors a few miles up the road. Southern Maine Epoxy is the second generation of that same work: Kendal and his wife started the company to bring those standards to their own clients, and the crew has grown alongside demand — from lake-region garages to full commercial warehouse floors.

We're deliberately not the biggest coating outfit in Maine. We take the projects we can do properly, we show up when we say we will, and the person who quotes your floor is the person who pours it.

Why Southern Maine Epoxy

The prep is the job. Everything else is finish work.

Most failed epoxy floors weren't bad resin — they were bad preparation. We do the unglamorous half properly so the pretty half lasts.

Mechanical prep, every time
Every floor is diamond-ground before a drop of resin goes down. Acid etching and roll-on kits peel; ground concrete bonds.
Second-generation craft
This is a trade that was handed down. You get the person who pours the floor on the phone, on the estimate, and on the job.
Two-day garage turnaround
A typical residential garage is ground and repaired on day one, poured and topcoated on day two. You're back in the space fast.
Built for Maine winters
Road salt, snowmelt, sand, and freeze-thaw. The systems we spec are chosen for what actually lands on a Maine floor in February.

Our process

Five steps, in this order, every time

No shortcuts on the front half. This is the sequence a floor has to go through to still look right in ten years.

Walkthrough & estimate
We look at the slab, talk through how you use the space, and give you a straight number — usually within a day or two of your call.
Diamond grinding
Every floor starts with mechanical prep. We grind the concrete to open the pores so the coating bonds to the slab, not to whatever was on it.
Repairs & moisture control
Cracks, spalls, and joints get filled and honed flat. Where moisture is a factor, we build in a vapor-mitigating base coat.
The pour
Base coat, broadcast or metallic pour, then a chemical-resistant topcoat — each layer timed and rolled by hand, not rushed.
Cure & walkthrough
We walk the finished floor with you, cover care and cure times, and leave the space cleaner than we found it.
